Avian Influenza

Dec. 12, 2016

Keepers of poultry and other captive birds are now required to keep their birds indoors, or take appropriate biosecurity steps to keep them separate from wild birds.

In response to the heightened risk of H5N8 highly pathogenic avian influenza, Defra has declared Prevention Zones covering the whole of England, Scotland and Wales. No cases of HH5N8 have been found in the UK and these orders are a precautionary measure to help prevent potential infection from wild birds.Further details can be found at www.gov.uk/government/news/new-measures-to-protect-poultry-against-avian-flu
