B Corp certified: Pennard leads the way again

We are the first veterinary practice in Europe to achieve a key milestone in our quest to be the best

Leading voice and leader by example in the push for ever higher standards of veterinary care within the industry? Check.

Largest employee-owned veterinary practice in the world? That’s us.

First vets in Europe to become a certified B Corp? Yep, we did that too!

We’re constantly looking for ways to improve, whether that’s our commitment to the environment, the quality of our service or the support we offer our teams.

That’s why it’s so satisfying when people outside of Pennards take note of the work that we’re doing, and that’s exactly what happened in 2022 when we achieved B Corp status.

What is a B Corp company?

Certified B Corps are companies that meet exceptionally high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

The process examines a company, from supply chain to charitable giving and employee benefits. It’s a long and difficult road to win certification, and very few companies pass first time – but we did. And yes, we do take that as a compliment!

Other well-known names that have achieved B Corp status include Patagonia, The Body Shop, BrewDog, TOMS, Ben and Jerry’s and Innocent Drinks – putting us in the same league as some of the most ethical and sustainable companies on the planet.

”Our team has the authority to always do the right thing”

We’ve always strived to be ethical and minimise our environmental impact as much as possible, and the next step was to become a fully certified sustainable business. Ultimately, we exist to benefit our people, the communities we work in and the environment, rather than solely focusing on profit, and becoming a B Corp is the highest level of external recognition of this. The accreditation is incredibly thorough and examined every area of the business, as well as all our policies to ensure what we have put in place are robust and impactful. We’re extremely proud to achieve B Corp status and there’s no doubt that it will be transformational for the business.
