Veterinary Care During the Lockdown Period

Posted on 24 March 2020

This is an update for our Priory Lodge Vets community. Since the Prime Minister’s announcement last night, we have been working hard to find ways to safely provide care to those of your beloved pets who need it the most. We have listed below the interim arrangements we have in place at Priory Lodge Vets during this difficult time.

Routine appointments:  We have had to suspend all routine appointments and procedures for the time being. If you have a pre-booked routine appointment or procedure, we will be contacting you in the coming days to rearrange this.

Non-routine appointments:  Our vets and veterinary nurses are working hard to help those of you whose pets require medical attention. We ask that you contact the surgery by telephone and speak with one of our dedicated veterinary nurses should your pet become unwell or if you are worried about any aspect of their health. They will do their best to help you and, in many cases, will be able to answer any questions you may have. If the veterinary nurse feels that further input is required a telephone consultation with a veterinary surgeon can be arranged which will be charged at our normal consultation rates.

Telephone consultations:  During the course of a telephone consultation the veterinary surgeon will discuss your particular concern with you and may ask you to email pictures or join a video link if they feel that this will help to diagnose your pet’s problem. The veterinary surgeon may then ask that you arrange for your pet to be brought to the surgery for examination and/or treatment.

Bringing your pet to the surgery:    **PLEASE ONLY DO SO FOLLOWING PRIOR ARRANGEMENT**

Once we have agreed a time to see your pet you will need to wait in your car in the carpark and telephone us to let us know you have arrived. We will then arrange for you to transfer your pet to us at the door and wait in your car while we examine and/or treat your pet. We will not allow any owners into the practice. We will be in contact with you by telephone to advise you regarding treatment.

Ordering and collecting medicines and food:   **NON-CONTACT SYSTEM FOR ORDERING/PAYMENT/COLLECTION**

We are working tirelessly to process all your requests for repeat prescriptions and food. We ask that where possible you order these items via our website as our telephone lines have been very busy. We will endeavour to have your items ready by 2pm the following day if you order before 4pm. We will telephone you once we have your items ready for collection to arrange payment over the telephone after which you can collect the items.

**UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU COME TO THE SURGERY IF YOU ARE UNWELL OR SELF-ISOLATING**
